Dogue de Bordeaux

The Dogue de Bordeaux, also known as the French Mastiff, has a history steeped in companionship and loyalty, originating from France where they were once used as working dogs on farms and for guarding properties. If you’re looking for a loving and devoted family pet, this breed may be just the right fit for you. With a gentle temperament and an affectionate nature, Dogues de Bordeaux thrive in family environments and are especially good with young kids, making them a wonderful choice for households where children are present.

While these dogs are medium in size, their strength and presence are quite striking. They have moderate energy levels, meaning daily walks and playtime will suffice to keep them happy and healthy. Although not particularly suited for apartment living, their calm demeanor means they are usually well-behaved in the home. They do require weekly grooming to keep their coats healthy and to manage the shedding, and their overall maintenance is manageable for most pet owners.

When it comes to training, the Dogue de Bordeaux is intelligent and eager to please, but patience and consistency are key to their success. While they can have a strong will, positive reinforcement methods work well with them, especially when paired with their natural affection for their families. With a low barking tendency, they are not overly vocal, adding to their appeal as quiet yet watchful companions. If you're in search of a loyal and loving dog, come meet the Dogue de Bordeaux at Petland Beavercreek, OH, and get ready to welcome a gentle giant into your home.
