Basset Hound

The Basset Hound, a breed with a rich history that traces back to France, is known for its distinctive long ears and droopy expression that can melt anyone's heart. Originally bred to hunt small game, these lovable companions have transitioned beautifully into family pets. With a well-balanced temperament, they make great friends for children and generally get along with other dogs and even cats, making them a wonderful choice for families of all shapes and sizes. Their friendly disposition and steady demeanor mean they fit in well, bringing joy and affection to your home.

Despite their moderate energy level, Basset Hounds require regular exercise to stay happy and healthy. While they are quite content with leisurely strolls around the neighborhood or time spent playing in the yard, don’t be fooled by their laid-back nature. These sweet pups do enjoy some playful antics, but they are just as happy cuddling up on the couch for movie night. In apartment living, Basset Hounds shine as they adapt well to smaller spaces, provided their daily walking needs are met.

Grooming a Basset Hound is manageable, requiring just weekly brushings to keep their coat looking great and to control shedding. Their affectionate nature means they bond deeply with their families, often seeking out cuddles and companionship. While they may not be the easiest to train due to their independent spirit, with patience and consistency, they can learn and respond well to commands. If you are looking for a loving, easy-going canine companion who will warm your heart, look no further than the charming Basset Hound, available to meet at Petland Beavercreek, OH.
